The weekend of July 23 & 24, 2011, the ‘mountain will meet the music’ when Vernon’s very own Rarearth Music Festival www.rarearthmusic.com will be hosted by Silver Star Mountain Resort. “We are thrilled to have the festival at one of the most highly respected mountain resorts in Canada”, says Executive Director Kath Raeber … “what an amazing way for all of us ‘Vernonites’ to be able to show off to the world, what we’ve got in our own backyard”.

The festival will bring with it an action packed, fun-filled, family weekend of non-stop music starting at 11:00 am on Saturday, the 23rd of July, featuring young musicians on ‘Stage Right’.

Stage Right was set up to promote children aged 8-18 who auditioned for and/or won the highly successful Our Kids Have Talent competition where talented young stars vie for prizes and cash in excess of $15,000. Over the past 3 years, this positive initiative has given over 250 children the opportunity to further their musical careers and the Rarearth Music Festival is very proud to include them on the roster at the festival each year.

Silver Star has so much to offer such as camping (hot showers), RV sites, family festival accommodation rates, Berries & Bears or Mountain Wildflower Tours, scenic chairlift rides, horseback riding, mountain biking all within a setting that leaves you breathless.

The festival not only offers two solid days of music but also shuttle service, pet sitting, Wine Tour Packages (MJO Wine Tours), food vendors and artisans.

Bobbi Bovenzi’s World Beat Events Drumming Group will summon festival seekers for miles as he opens the festival at 10am sharp on both Saturday and Sunday.

The music is a diverse mixture of all genres sure to please the ear of all music lovers. Vernon’s own Jodi Pederson who will create the mood with a collage of folk, rock & pop. Rarearth’s Festival Organizer Kath Raeber will bring her own sultry blues style when Kath and the Tomkats will play with guest Mr. Henry Piovesan. There's soul, jazz and funk groove with Skyla J & the Vibes, ‘rockin’ blues with the Okanagan’s favorite Blues Man ‘Poppa Dawg’, and RedFish with their intoxicating blend of soulful, hard edged rock.

There's a completely different feel when Wassabi Duo hits the stage with pop, rock, hip-hop, roots, reggae, funk and everything in between (special guest Bobby Bovenzi and his powerful drumming extravaganza) to the one and only Brickhouse! … who will take the stage to close off the evening and is said to be one of the ‘hardest working bands’ on the circuit and who promise to “rock our socks off” But that’s not all … there’s a full on jam band at the ‘Saloon’ as well as an acoustic jam at Bulldog’s Pub after the festival on Saturday night.

From Vancouver Steve Kozak & the WestCoast All-Stars and his roots music will get you all ready for an explosion of talent. 2 time Juno Award Winner Greg Sczebel (who took 8 of the 9 awards at the BC Interior Music Awards this year) will grace the stage on Sunday along with Las Vegas Entertainer David ‘the Saxman’ Brown whose unique ‘overblow‘ technique on the sax and his powerful stage presence promises to get you up dancing. The Okanagan's newest band Space Monkey will open up the Main Stage with their unique blend of funk, soul, blues and rock with a massive helping of 'interesting'.

Then... get ready for the ‘Aussies’ as Mason Rack Band hits the stage with a sound that will leave you speechless( and in awe) of a voice that takes you down into the Mississippi Bayou with soulful lyrics. Delhi to Dublin provide a unique blend of ‘Breakbeat, Celtic and Electronics’ where India meets Ireland with upbeat, “impossible to sit down” music.
